1. feeling or expressing distress and annoyance, especially because of inability to change or achieve something.
2. (of a person) unable to follow or be successful in a particular career.
3. prevented from progressing, succeeding, or being fulfilled.
We ALL feel this way…at so many times in our days…lives. It could be frustration because your hair won’t do what you want….your kids are just not listening…your dog…Oreos that were looking at you & made you eat them…your protein shake blew up…any number of things in our day.
BUT, I believe that the real SOURCE of our frustration is simply OURSELVES. We all know that our greatest frustrations in life are unspoken…we speak in “code” if we even attempt to share what we are feeling…so the question – how do we handle frustration? Better yet, how SHOULD we handle frustration in a way that increases our FAITH & brings us to FREEDOM?
Well, I have AWESOME news for you! If you are frustrated – this is a GOOD thing! Why? Because if your NOT frustrated, you are complacent! Let me break this down a little more…
Let me repeat that quote again because this was a game changer for me, my mindset:
If you are frustrated – this is a GOOD thing! Why? Because if your NOT frustrated, you are complacent!
Let that sink in. If you are NOT frustrated in life it means you are complacent. You live for the weekends, do whatever you can to “enjoy” life (NO I’m not against enjoying life, but we should ALL be pushing, pursuing our PURPOSE – the mission that God has literally created EACH of us to do & I PROMISE you, it is ALWAYS tied to giving & helping people!). It’s hard, it is frustrating, it is sometimes unclear what the big picture is…why we are struggling through THIS thing. BUT here is where faith in the midst of frustration comes in!
For real though, I did a crazy happy dance when I got this revelation in me! Because I’m somewhat easily frustrated!!! I get SUPER frustrated with myself & my lack of ability in many areas…let’s get on with the good stuff though…
Many times, though we may never know it, the most faithful people are the most frustrated. They move from frustration to frustration because they KNOW God put BIG plans in their lives & it feels like everything is moving too slowly, or “I’m just not qualified to do all of this” – um, your right, on your own your NOT!
God won’t ever ask us to do things we can do on OUR OWN! He will only ask us to do BIG, CRAZY, AWESOME things that we could NEVER do on our own – AND everyone who knows us would KNOW we couldn’t! – to show US & the WORLD that we all NEED HIM! To show HIMSELF strong through us! The sensation of weakness is actually an indication of God’s STRENGTH! Whew – let me say THAT one again!
The sensation of weakness is actually an indication of God’s STRENGTH!
I love that & need to be reminded of this DAILY! So, faith in frustration. Frustration helps you FOCUS on what need to change, helps propel us to a different direction, a different approach, a different action….or we can stay the same – which means you are insane (definition: doing the SAME thing over & over & expecting a DIFFERENT result!). But please, don’t complain about what you allow then!
Either allow your frustration to put your FAITH in Christ & give it up to Him, ask Him to just show you the NEXT STEP – not the WHOLE picture & 10 year plan – but get the NEXT step right! He WILL show you! OR if you don’t want to change, please don’t complain about the life you are ALLOWING yourself to keep living. Now, don’t get me wrong, I complain. Just ask my hubby…he is SO patient with me…just listens to me “rant”.
Complaining or “ranting” to the right people (meaning people who will give you SOUND wisdom, prayer, support, correction when needed & encouragement when needed) can help us all get it off our chest, work through some of the issues (or am I the only one who, after I say some things out loud suddenly realize how um, crazy THAT thought process was & immediately answered my own problem? Bahaha! Jon just sweetly smiles at me…thank you my Jonny)!
They don’t tell me to give up, or give in. They don’t tell me I should stop doing it because it’s hard, they don’t tell me a lie to make me “feel” better.
It says in the Word in this life you WILL have trials…NOT – in this life maybe you you will have trials. BUT it then says consider it PURE JOY (working on this one, not gonna lie!) when you do have trials because you KNOW this testing of your faith produces PERSEVERANCE! Then, LET perseverance WORK in you to make you MATURE, COMPLETE & NOT lacking ANYTHING!! What is the Greek & Hebrew for anything? ANYTHING!!! Does it say when you do this you’ll be great with love, but well, lack some joy…NOPE! I’m believing God’s word! I’m taking HIM at HIS WORD! When I follow these steps:
- Consider it JOY, a sheer GIFT when I am frustrated & have trials on all sides!
- To PERSEVERE under pressure without exception in my FAITH! This makes my faith life be forced into the open & show it’s TRUE colors.
- To KEEP persevering – meaning don’t try to get out of this test prematurely. Let this trial do it’s work of teaching in us, so we become wiser, stronger & more resilient. PLUS, we then get to share with others how God guided us through to VICTORY! No testimony without that test! 🙂
- Learn, trust, listen to God, seek Him more than ANYTHING you do. TALK to God & EVERYONE about how big your GOD is NOT how big your problem is!!! If you don’t know what your doing, PRAY to your Daddy! He LOVES to help! You WILL get His help & you will NOT be condescended when you ask for it! BUT, you must ask BODLY! BELIEVINGLY! Without a second though! (James 1:2-8 READ IT!)
If you know how to HANDLE your frustration, then it can lead you to an IMPROVED future! The messenger, meaning how the frustration is delivered can be from Satan, BUT know that the message can be from God. Many times our frustrations stem from a issue inside of US, not other people or circumstances. God’s trying to get us to deal with OURSELVES & turn to Him for help!
Our comfort zones are well, frankly where Satan wants us. NOT advancing, NOT taking ground for Christ! NOT living our divine purpose! NOT doing more that we could ask or imagine THROUGH Christ!! I URGE you to BREAK out of your comfort zone, pursue God more than ANYTHING! He WILL show you His plan – or maybe just the next step – to give you the abundantly AWESOME life He planned just for YOU!
So, now that I’m off my preach – whew! TRUST me! I am SO preaching this to myself! I usually preach like nuts to myself in my car on my way home from working out! After listening to praise music while working out, God just does something in me EVERY time! I get all FIRED up & preach to myself! Haha – good thing my Mini has tinted windows! 🙂
Moving to Denver, starting my own business “GI JANE Faithfully Fit”, is SUPER uncomfortable! BUT, I simply KNOW this is what God wants me to do. I am destined to do this. To not only train people physically, but what I’m even MORE passionate about (I know, MORE passionate than lifting things up & putting them down?? Hahaha!) is to help people train their FAITH! Yes, we need to TRAIN it. Just like a muscle. It’s frustrating. You may feel you don’t “see” progress. You don’t want to do it every day. You get distracted.
You feel like a failure because you got an “injury” because you did it wrong & screwed up. You get exhausted. You want the results, but the process of showing up daily is just so hard. You don’t know how to do it well. You get angry & fall off the wagon. You push the wagon over a cliff because your so mad. You have no plan.
As a trainer I KNOW I could coach ANY client through ALL of these things issues & still have them make awesome progress because ALL my clients struggle with these issues, BUT here is the KEY!! I can’t help ANY client if they don’t COMMUNICATE with me & ASK me to help them!! SAME WITH GOD!
My biggest prayer right now in my life is to just communicate in prayer with God daily, giving Him ALL my frustrations, cares, anxieties, insecurities (there is SO much that well, I STINK at! I am continually giving up my inadequacies & telling Him – yes, like a kinda bratty kid – well, if you want me to do this & do it right YOU’LL have to either enable me with new skills or bring someone into my life who HAS those skills! Kuz right now I don’t see how in tarnation I would do it!), & questions – then I just PRAISE PRAISE & THANK THANK HIM for working it ALL out & that I’ll be VICTORIOUS in HIM!! WHOOOP!!
I do this while walking the trails & literally talking my prayers & scripture to God! Hehe…yep, I probable look like a crazy lady out power walking just chatting away to my Jesus! To be frank, it helps me to well, not fall asleep when I pray! So many times I’ll do my reading in the morning no problem, but then when I need to pray, I’ll just fall asleep or really struggle with focus! So, I’ve learned I actually have much better FOCUS when I move! I actually LOVE pacing & listening to speakers & take notes while doing it! Hehe!
Ok, so I’ve ranted for a while, so here is my last example. I have known I need to have a website to be able to share my programs (in progress of making them NOW – SO excited – much more to come!) that will simply outline a plan of action to help women learn how to pursue their FAITH & FITNESS with excellence in simple, daily action steps! Now, I’m a meathead. Oh, I can selfie with the best, but I’m NOT techie!
So, I told God if He wanted me to do a website He’d have to figure it out & I’ll do it. No joke, days later I got a facebook private message from my friend, Ross. He used to do all the IT on my Guard Base. He said he’d been following all my stuff & loved my message to people, said he is starting his own website development company & would I be willing to let him help me create my own website for no cost so I could be in his client success portfolio? UM…YES!!!!!!!! God is SO good it’s simple incredible!!
In ending, yes, finally! My prayer for YOU! Work from frustration to frustration, continually giving thanks to God for trusting & believing in you to work through these things THROUGH Him! A good Dad would never give his child an overwhelming trail that he knew would over frustrate him & allow the child to feel completely inadequate. A good Dad would give his child a problem to allow him to learn, grow, figure it out, & then BE there to help when the child has questions! NOT to do it for them, but to allow learning, growth, maturity & then CONFIDENCE to happen!
On this Father’s Day – know that He is the BEST Father ever! He is READY to talk you through any frustration & just can’t WAIT to help you out! He is PROUD of you & oh SO in love with you!!!
Blessing in Christ my awesome peeps!!
